The risk associated with the importation of fresh swine embryos derived from donor sows originating from the Netherlands and France, is assessed. The donor sows are planned to be transported to Spain, where the embryos will be retrieved surgically in accordance with recommendations by the International Embryo Transfer Society (IETS). The embryos will then be sent to Norway for non-surgical deposition in recipient sows. A qualitative risk assessment of the risk of introducing particularly PRRSv, PEDv, TGEv, SIv, MRSA and quinolone- and colistin-resistant bacteria is performed following the OIE guidelines for import risk analysis.
