Ongoing research projects

  • OH-Milk

The overall aim of this regional project is to use a One Health (OH) approach to contribute to the sustainable production of safe milk for food security, improved nutrition, increased animal and human health as well as economic growth.

    Project Period
    2022 - 2027
    Område
    Antibiotikaresistens, Zoonoser, Mattrygghet
  • GizMo

The GizMo project aims to deepen our understanding of the factors contributing to the development of gizzard erosion and ulceration syndrome, and to create effective tools and procedures for its prevention.

    Project Period
    2024 - 2026
    Område
    Bakteriologi, Bioinformatikk, Husdyrhelse, Molekylærbiologi, Patologi
  • TransformDairyNet

Dairy farms traditionally separate calves from their mothers shortly after birth, but a new approach called cow-calf contact (CCC), allows them to remain together for months.

    Project Period
    2024 - 2027
    Område
    Dyrevelferd, Husdyrhelse
  • EUPAHW - Animal welfare and sustainability

Establishing a multidisciplinary scientific network to include Animal Welfare within the scope of livestock sustainability. This includes economics, environmental and social performances.

    2024 - 2026
    Område
    Fiskehelse, Dyrevelferd, Fiskevelferd
  • EUPAHW - Positive Animal Welfare

To improve the lives of farm animals, we need to understand what positive experiences in animals are and how they can be recognised on farm. The overall objective is to identify and validate animal-based measures of positive animal welfare related to different motivational systems.

    Project Period
    2024 - 2026
    Område
    Bioinformatikk, Dyrevelferd
  • EUPAHW - SPAMR-VET

The aim of the project is to improve surveillance of important veterinary pathogens and their antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiles.

    Project Period
    2023 - 2026
  • ParviLife

Why is the disease parvicapsulosis only seen in specific regions within the parasite's overall geographic distribution, while remaining absent in others? This crucial question serves as the focal point for our efforts to proactively address and mitigate the disease in the future.

    Project Period
    2024 - 2027
    Område
    Fiskehelse, Molekylærbiologi, Parasittologi
  • Emerging CWD

Emerging CWD is a 6 years project funded by the Research Council of Norway. The main objective of the project is to obtain essential new knowledge on the emerging CWD strains identified in Europe.

Epidemiologi, Husdyrhelse, Miljø- og smittetiltak, Molekylærbiologi, Patologi, Vilthelse, Zoonoser
  • WiLiMan-ID

This is a research project funded with 6 Million Euros for 5 years by the Horizon Europe program and it was launched in May 2023 thanks to the contribution of 14 partners. The main objective of WiLiMan-ID is to identify key factors allowing five animal infectious diseases to spread and persist, in changing environments. The five diseases are: Avian influenza, African swine fever, West-Nile fever, African horse sickness and Chronic wasting disease (CWD).
