There are no new reports on findings of high pathogenic avian influenzavirus subtype H5N1 in Europe.
Salmonella-bacteria is found in a herd of milkcows in Dovre municipality in Oppland county. Until the test are negative, restrictions are put on the herd.
The genetic variety of the Gyrodactylus salaris which was found in 'Lærdalselva' in October is identical to the variety found in the river previous to the treatment with aliminium in 2005 and 2006.
November 5th. the OIE referencelaboratory in Pirbright in England informed that Foot and Mouth Disease was found in Cyprus. The original suspicion of bluetongue in sheep turned out to be Foot and Mouth Disease. The disease has not been sited in Cyprus since 1963.

The fishparasite Caligus elongatus is common in salmon fish farms. One fears that the parasite might cause problems also in farming cod. Researchers now know more about the origins of the parasite.

Bluetongue disease (also called catarrhal fever) is a non-contagious, insect-borne viral disease of ruminants, mainly sheep and less frequently of cattle, goats amongst others. There are no reports of human transmission. It is caused by the Bluetongue virus.

Giardia duodenalis are onecelled parasites that can cause gastrointestinal disease (giardiosis) in animals and humans. Animals can get some of the same kinds of Giardia as humans, but in most cases of giardosis in humans the contimination stems from other humans. Giardia can spread directly between humans, from animals to humans or from watersources via contamination of fertilizers and sewage .
