Development of a Piscine Reovirus (PRV) vaccine

Piscine reovirus (PRV) was recently identified and associated with Heart and skeletal muscle inflammation (HSMI). In this project we aim to develop develop better understanding of PRV virulence and pathology, and a vaccine directed against PRV.

Factors behind the establishment, population increase and continued dispersion of the Deer Ked in Norway and the effects on Norwegian wild cervids

Prosjektet skal frambringe basiskunnskap om hjortelusflua og dens effekt på elg, slik at man kan begrense skadevirkningene av dette insektet i norsk natur.

Infectivity and abnormal PrP in tissues from sheep exposed to Atypical Scrapie

In this project considering that atypical cases could be either a spontaneous affection from central nervous system origin or an acquired infectious disease resulting from an oral contamination, we establish distribution of abnormal PrP and infectivity in sheep tissues and milk. These data should provide useful data for evaluation of potential food risk associated to atypical/ scrapie cases.

Exploring Permeability of human species barrier to circulating TSE agent

In that project, using transgenic mice model for the PRP gene, we explore (i) the abilities of a representative panel of field TSE isolates to cross the human species barriers and (ii) the potential alteration of permeability of human species barrier for prions that would have adapted to a different species than their natural host.

Artic char (Salvelinus alpinus) as a short term and long term host for Gyrodactylus salaris

The project is designed to study landlocked Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) as a host to Gyrodactylus salaris.
